Spring Residential Roofing Maintenance Tips

Owning a home comes with responsibilities. With spring just around the corner, it pays to conduct inspections and repairs to ensure the aesthetic appeal and functionality of your home. One of the best places to start is the roof. Pressure Point Roofing, Inc. discusses spring residential roof maintenance tips that can help keep your home safe and protected against potential issues all year round.

Spring Residential Roofing Maintenance Tips

Clean Gutters

Clogged gutters are common in the spring when they can become filled with decaying leaves and other debris built up throughout winter. Clean your gutters before the rainy season to ensure water runoff will flow away from your home and minimize water damage.

Inspect the Roof for Damage

An annual roof inspection is vital to identify signs of wear and tear. Take the time to look for any curled, missing, broken, or otherwise damaged shingles because they can lead to problems if not addressed promptly. Don’t forget to check all roof surfaces so that you won’t miss any potential issues.

Check for Loose or Missing Shingles

Inspect your roof’s shingles to ensure they are in good shape. Look for any loose or missing shingles lifted by high winds or loosened over time, and replace them as soon as possible. Also, consider applying a layer of water-resistant coating for added protection against weather elements.

Check for Leaks

Roof leaks can be a significant problem if you delay it further. Check the area where your roof meets the walls or other structures for any signs of leaking. Look for dark patches or wet spots that may need repair. Check your roof’s interior and exterior sides thoroughly to avoid overlooking anything.

Check Flashing and Vents

Take the time to inspect your roof’s flashing, a thin strip of metal that links different parts of your roof together and helps keep water out of areas where it can cause harm. Ensure all the flashing around eaves, valleys, vents, and other joints are secured. It may be necessary to contact a roof repair professional for more significant issues like this, as they will have the proper tools and know-how to fix them properly.

Check for Algae and Moss Growth

Algae and moss buildup can be especially problematic this time of year, leading to mold and discoloration on your roof’s surface. Take the time to inspect for any dark spots or streaking as these could indicate their presence. You should also use an appropriate cleaner formulated for your roof type so that you do not damage it in the process.

Check for Animal Damage

During the spring, insects, birds and other small animals may become more active as they search for places to nest or breed. Inspect your roof for any signs of animal damage, such as chewed shingles or nests in areas like vents and eaves. If you notice anything unusual, contact a wildlife expert immediately so they can remove the animals safely.

I just wanna give a shout out to one of your guys who jumped out of vehicle to help me push my van out from 62 onto coker Butte this morning awesome job and thank you so much..

No hassles, no stress roofing contractor.

We've worked with a number of contractors over the years doing home improvement projects and I can say that, without question, working with Pressure Point was about as easy as it gets.

Everything about the project, from sales all the way to final inspection, went like clockwork and without a hitch.  They delivered more than they promised, on time and within budget.   We could not have been happier with their personnel, products and services.  Highly recommended!

I've changed my review from a 1 star to a 4 stars. Matt Stone got right on a pretty poor job done installing a skylight. He had his guys remove the skylight, move it, repair the roof and inside ceiling to its original state, paint it, repair some external trim that was damaged, and all within a few days after talking to him about the multiple problems. It was really an eyesore from the inside. I'd give a 5 star if this had been done well the first time. The skylight just didn't fit the space I first wanted it and was told it would. More communication about the potential problems might have allowed this to be done right the first time. But, Pressure Point Roofing gets 5 starts for making amends and correcting a pretty ugly problem, very fast! Thank you.

I needed someone to come out to take a look at a leaky roof. I contacted Pressure Point Roofing, Inc. and they came out the same day. They gave me a quote to fix the problem and I agreed to their terms. It was about 4PM and I knew they closed at 5PM but they stayed and fixed the leak at no additional cost. I was very happy and impressed. Would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Pressure Point Roofing for earning our families trust. Will definitely be doing business with you again.

Wouldn't be good if I didn't think the best of my own company right?!

Matt Stone

Excellent experience, prompt and professional estimate, showed up on schedule (actually a day early) and did a thorough and complete job. All personnel were professional, polite and great at their jobs. Would recommend to anyone.

I am so happy I chose Pressure Point to replace my 40-year-old roof.  The crew was professional, efficient, and answered all my questions, addressed the few concerns I raised, and made me feel comfortable, trusting them with such a big project.  I couldn't be happier with their work and the look of my new roof.
